Andy Harrell, President

Andy has been beekeeping for about 6 years.  He would stand out in his backyard among the flowers and watch the bees work. Today he plants trees and flowers that attract the pollinators. The local apiary inspector  recommended joining the Treasure Coast Beekeepers to learn more and today he is our president.

Mike is working to expand his apiary and become a commercial beekeeper, helping to pollinate almonds and other commercial food crops. He has already started introducing and teaching his son Hunter about the wonders of beekeeping.

Wyatt Edgell, Treasurer

Wyatt and his wife Dana have been keeping bees for about 3 years. They are both very active in the club, and enjoy volunteering at events and teaching new beekeepers and non beekeepers about bees. They currently have a small bee supply company that focuses on backyard beekeepers.

Danielle Quant, Immediate Past President

Danielle Quant is very passionate about beekeeping because it represents all things that are important to our environment. She has always loved being a farmer, finding that she gravitates towards managing livestock the most. She studied Animal Sciences and Entomology at the University of Florida, has worked on multiple farms and ranches, and currently works on her family’s farm in Vero Beach, FL. She started keeping her own bees last July and has gone from 1 to 35 hives in a year’s time. She enjoys reading and talking about bees with anyone who will listen, catching feral hives, rearing queens, and beeswax alchemy. She is gradually making her apiary grow into a business and hopes to bee a serious sideliner in the years to come.

Michelle Peterson, Past President

An avid gardener, Michelle started beekeeping over five years ago after noticing a scarcity of honey bees pollinating her flowers and learning about Colony Collapse Disorder. She became an active member of the nearest bee club, the Palm Beach County Beekeepers Association, and, in 2011, founded the Treasure Coast Beekeepers Association. Michelle is a Master Beekeeper in the UF IFAS Master Beekeeper Program, with a major in Native Bee Apiculture. She is also a Florida Master Gardener, and has a strong interest in promoting and encouraging native bee pollinators in residential gardens and landscapes.
